In an August 10 update, the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) described work toward more consistent information sharing across Canadian care settings. Community and hospital pharmacies both depend on accurate information at handoffs.
What is planned
CIHI says version 3 of its Pan-Canadian Health Data Content Framework is planned for September 29, 2026. It also describes a forthcoming update to Canadian Core Data for Interoperability. These standards support common definitions; the announcement does not mean every pharmacy system is already connected.
